Welcome to Oziland!

My family drove me to NAIA in the late afternoon of July 26 (Thursday), boarded the plane at 9:30 in the evening then arrived in Sydney 10 loooooong hours after (includes a stopover in Melbourne). Unlike my first trip here in January, I immediately spotted my aunt and uncle (related post here: My Sydney trip), to my relief. Yaaaaay!
There wasn't any drama with the family during bye-bye time!
Here I am looking really goofy in the airport!
So it's been exactly a week since I left the rainy Philippines to experience the winter season in Australia (colloquially abbreviated Oz as in OZtralia).

Having lived in a tropical country, I am not really used to the cold so a steaming cuppa joe almost always saves my day! I say almost as there are also the layers of clothes, heater and electric blanket.
Coffee to warm our hearts. And hands. And feet. :D
My moving here isn't all fun and games as I am actually starting all over. And I need to familiarize myself with everything - culture, currency, work, accent and the list goes on. To earn a living, I have to hunt for a proper job. Sure I'll find something someday, but it is easier said than done. When you look at postings, job advertisers almost always require candidates to  (1) be a qualified CPA/CA in Australia, and (2) have local work experience. Obviously, I do not have these. So the challenge here is to make me stand out in the market by capitalizing on the Philippine qualifications that I currently possess. Plus a little smile here and there and an occasional flick of my hair (as my cousin Victor would say).

I hope everything goes well. I don't want to jinx anything yet but so far, Australia has been very kind to me *wink wink*.

Enjoying Nepalese cuisine. August 3, 2012. :)
P.S. In the spirit of Olympics, I now pledge to support the Australians, given that there are no Filipinos in the competition. Aussie aussie aussie, Oi oi oi!!!!! :))
