First day high!

Today is definitely a milestone in my life. I woke up to a temperature of 6 degrees this morning to prepare for my first day of work. Yay right!? In such a short span of time I feel truly blessed to have been able to find work in a CA firm that I prefer and will help me grow my career. More importantly, I am very thankful for being surrounded by family here in Australia and back home who support and guide me all throughout.

While I will always miss all my friends from where I used to work (esp. during lunch break), I feel that I am in good hands in this new environment. :)

Trying to look really sharp for my first day at work.
P.S. My prayers go out to all families in the Philippines who have been hit by the intense rains. :(

I had a good first

It's amazing how after one leaves the four walls of an educational institution, the term "graduate" is not anymore defined by certain periods of time designed to complete a degree. It is succeeded by an environment where the graduate is tested to withstand the challenges of adulthood - the workplace. From here onwards, the young adult now puts it upon himself to start designing his own path and carve the future that he wants to tread. Decisions to pursue a career or to end it to be able to start anew solely rest upon him. He is after all, a grown up - the master of his fate, captain of his soul.

Christmas party 2011. My first (and last) as a senior.

Yes, I have resigned from my job and today, 4th of June, is my first stay-at-home Monday. If you remember that episode from the sitcom HIMYM entitled "graudation goggles," that is NOT how I felt because I definitely did not detest my work. Admittedly, there were very long work hours, stressed superiors, impatient clients, oversized pimples, distorted eating habits and little to no sleep at all during the busy season. However, nothing can ever replace the great friendships I made along the way, the lessons learned and the values strengthened (e.g. anger management 101). In my three and a half years with pwc, I have had the opportunity of working with wonderfully intelligent people, from the partners down to the associate level. I had an effective coach, diverse mix of clients, great pool of associates and an interesting mix of bosses. I have learned the value of team effort, team success and working towards a common goal. I have had my fair share of mistakes (and the scoldings that go with it) but heck, I understood early on that these are but necessary scars that help pave the way towards maturity.

I had a good first. Twenty years from now, I would love to be that woman who looks back, smiles and still says, "Really, I had a good first." :)
